Adelante Familia is a bilingual program at the House of Ruth Maryland dedicated to the eradication of domestic violence in the Latino community. Adelante Familia serves Spanish-speaking immigrants living in Baltimore who are victims, or at risk of being victims, or are perpetrators of domestic violence.

Adelante Familia is the only comprehensive domestic violence program in Maryland providing specialized domestic violence intervention services for Spanish-speaking immigrants. We are a women-centered advocacy model with a focus on providing comprehensive, linguistically and culturally-specific services as they pertain to case management (one on one support), individual and group counseling, education, and advocacy. Because of the specific needs and realities that the Spanish-speaking victims face, Adelante Familia has always provided full services, regardless of whether or not the woman chooses to stay in the relationship. Our model focuses on securing the safety of the women and children within the context of promoting empowerment, individual responsibility and healing.
