Giving to House Of Ruth Maryland
The House Of Ruth Maryland relies on the support of the community to serve over 13,000 people annually. These contributions allow us to continue working towards our vision - that one day every woman in Maryland will be safe in her own home.
Thank you to the following foundations for their gifts.
$10,000+
Baxter International Foundation
The Baxter International Foundation has supported the House Of Ruth Maryland in providing services to children and teens in our therapeutic program and violence prevention program. In addition to direct services in the form of individual and group counseling to children and teens, we also expanded our youth-focused education and outreach services into the Prince George’s and Montgomery County communities.
The Dopkin-Singer-Dannenberg Foundation
Since 2005 the Dopkin-Singer-Dannenberg Foundation has donated yearly to directly support the child-care program, with a portion going towards the salary of a full-time licensed community therapist providing clinical services to child survivors of domestic violence.
Marjorie Cook Foundation
The Marjorie Cook Foundation provides support for the legal clinic. Legal representation is one of the greatest unmet needs confronting victims of domestic violence throughout Maryland. The House Of Ruth Maryland - Marjorie Cook Domestic Violence Legal Clinic helps more than 2,000 victims of domestic violence obtain protective orders, peace orders, divorce decrees, custody of their children and child support each year for free each year.
William S. Abell Foundation
The Abell Foundation supports our Mujeres Santas program for Latina victims of domestic violence in Prince George’s County. The grant helped fund 2 bilingual counselors to conduct individual and group counseling sessions and the production of outreach materials for this population.
Charles Crane Family Foundation
The Crane Family Foundation provides support for our Teen Dating Violence Prevention Initiative. The Teen Program is designed to provide domestic violence prevention education and services to teens who have experienced abuse in a dating relationship. The program strives to help teens understand and maintain healthy relationships.
Morton K. & Jane Blaustein Foundation
The Blaustein Foundation provides general support for temporary housing and services for abused women and their children.
J.S. Plank and D. M. DiCarlo Family Foundation
The resources provided by the Emergency fund are used by staff in our shelter, counseling, legal, and community advocate programs for a variety of different services. The availability of the Emergency Fund makes it possible for program staff to respond quickly to a client need. For example, a woman that has just secured a protective order with the help of our legal clinic may need $50 to change the locks on the doors of her home or a victim calling our hotline may need $100 for a train ticket to take her to an out-of-state friend’s house where she will be safe from her abuser.
Helen P. Denit Charitable Trust
The Denit Trust provides support for a full time attorney who represents women in divorce and custody cases. Securing a divorce or custody order works to protect victims of domestic violence. Every client who obtained a final divorce or custody order through a HRM attorney has reported that her life has improved, become more peaceful and that her children have settled into a normal routine.
Brenda Brown-Lipitz Family Foundation
The Foundation provided support for our traveling photo exhibit, A Line In The Sand.
The exhibit chronicles Maryland's fight against domestic violence and the people who have led the way.
