B-More Bags Project
B-More Bags are designed and hand crafted entirely by volunteers. Each bag is an individual work of art: some are classic, others trendy and a few take a walk on the wild side. We use donated designer fabrics and trims, jewelry and embellishments to create truly unique and functional tote bags, handbags, market bags, dressy bags, “stuff” bags, wine bottle bags, and more! All proceeds from the sale of B-More Bags support the House Of Ruth Maryland’s Emergency Transportation Fund for battered women and their children. In 2007 we raised $7,000!
We need volunteers who can sew using a machine or by hand. We have limited opportunities for non-sewers (sorting fabric, cutting patterns, helping keep the shop organized). Our workshop is located in the House Of Ruth’s Administration Building in northeast Baltimore (parking is easy). The shop is a place where volunteers come together and share….creativity, friendship and the joy of community service. Workshop sessions are generally scheduled one evening a week (5-8pm) and two Saturdays a month (9:30a-3:30p). Come for the entire session or just a portion of it, just please come!
