Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Put together one very run-down house, a deserving family, several opinionated but extremely talented designers, seven days and what do you get? The answer is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

If you're a fan of the show, you have seen the dramatic transformations that take place to a worthy family's home. You are also undoubtedly familiar with how the makeover impacts and changes the lives of the family forever.
It began when a 14-year-old from District Heights applied to have her family's home and life transformed by the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team. Like the stories you see every week, her mother's experience as a battered woman is full of emotion and courage. Veronica had suffered years of abuse and her daughter thought the show might help make a fresh start for the family. In desperation, she turned to the House Of Ruth Maryland for assistance. Finally, the woman who endured broken promises, a broken heart, and broken life was able to break free. Although she is no longer with her abuser, the painful memories continue to linger for her and her children.

On Saturday, August 13, 2005, Veronica Ginyard and her family were woken by the sounds of Ty Pennington's voice. Soon after hearing Ty share the good news, the family was whisked away to Disney World while their new home was built.
At the end of the week, ABC hosted a candlelight vigil to honor all victims of domestic violence. They even brought in Miss Patti LaBelle, one of Veronica's favorite entertainers, to perform.

The next day, Saturday, August 20, 2005, the Ginyard family arrived to see their new home in a stretch SUV and they were ecstatic to say the least.
The show aired October 30, 2005.
We are very thankful to ABC and Somerset Homes for their support.
