Teen Initiative
The Teen Initiative provides dating violence prevention education as well as services to adolescents who have experienced intimate partner violence personally or who have witnessed it at home. The Initiative also assists teens who are in the process of developing and maintaining healthy dating relationships. In addition, the Teen Initiative also provides training to parents, school personnel and other youth services professionals on how to help teens build the knowledge and skills needed to prevent dating violence from occurring in their lives.
Principal objectives of the program are to:
• Increase teens’ awareness and knowledge of healthy and
unhealthy intimate relationships
• Increase teens’ ability to respond effectively when conflict
arises in a relationship
• Increase the ability of adults in the school and neighborhood
community to support teens in forming healthy relationships
